Deep thinking

Yesterday I had my first colonoscopy.  I have not been looking forward to this exam at all.

The last time I had imaging, it was a whole thing… which put me in front of a surgeon.

Honestly, not sad about it.  That surgeon is now someone I trust. And, I’m living in the body I have always wanted.

I still don’t want to go that route every time I have imaging. Though I would if absolutely necessary.

Anyway, the prep for the colonoscopy was not as bad as it could have been, but sports drinks are ruined for me. Entering the procedure area was very familiar. Wearing the gown with the opening to the back was weird but fine.

The nurse was pretty good. Only took two sticks to find a vein for the IV. (Dehydration after prep is real)

I was taken to the exam room. Spoke to the Dr performing the scan. Let them know the symptoms I was having and the fear I have. The Dr educated me on the things and assured me what the process is if something is found. And then it was time to get into position.

The Nurse Anesthesiologist put the oxygen on my face, the BP cuff on, the leads on my chest AND then, said move up and over and roll on your side (without dislodging the connections).

Side note the leads on my chest after my mastectomy was the strangest sensation I’ve had in a minute.

A short while later, I was awake with clear results in my hands. I felt a huge amount of stress drop with those results.

Everything is as it’s supposed to be.
