I didn’t find anything to write the last couple of days, and I didn’t want to force anything out. So, I took the time to reflect the last couple of days. Work is going well. I hate that we are expected to do more than we were previously but, it is benefiting patients so, it’sContinue reading “Quick Update and A Prompt”

What is the legacy you want to leave behind? My legacy is perseverance. I do not give up. I have learned to live in some discomfort. I don’t mean physical discomfort (I try to avoid that by any means necessary). I do things that I’m not good at and need to learn how to doContinue reading
Catching Up
I skipped yesterday as a sign of respect on Memorial Day. Anything I would’ve posted didn’t sound appropriate. The men and women who gave their all so I could live a life of privilege have my sincerest thanks and deepest respect.
What does “having it all” mean to you? Is it attainable? Having it all is a myth. I want enough. Enough to live the life I want. Enough to not stress about money and bills and enjoy trips. I want enough to never feel like I’m going without even if I don’t have everything.
Foster Care Awareness Month
May is Foster Care Awareness Month. It’s no secret that we were foster parents. Were, past tense. The system fails not just the kids and often their birth families, but it also fails foster parents. No Change
If you change nothing about yourself and your life, where would you be one year from now? How do you feel about cold weather? I grew up in the northeast, and I live in the northwest. Cold weather happens frequently. I like the cold for the meals that we get to experience. All kinds of soups, stews, chili, and the like. You can always add more layers of clothes and blankets; hotContinue reading
Self Care
How will you take care of yourself? What does your self-care kit look like? Taking care of myself for the rest of the year means making a crystal clear boundary between work and home life. I will not sacrifice the balance I find necessary to maintain my physical and mental health. It means taking responsibilityContinue reading “Self Care”
Choices not sacrifices
What sacrifices have you made in life? I don’t like to think of my choices as sacrifices. Even the things I don’t have that I thought I would have were from choices I made intentionally or from inaction. Our main sacrifice is the distance (physical and emotional) from family members. We built our lives farContinue reading “Choices not sacrifices”
