Road Tripping

Earlier this week, we learned of the death of a distant relative on my husband’s side. We are down for the funeral. My body hates the seat belt. Overall, it was a good and relaxing ride.

It’s interesting being in a hotel room while going through the insomnia cycle and recovering from surgery.

I’m sleeping comfortably but not being in my own environment has my anxiety up a bit. Thankfully my surgery pain is very minimal. I am sore from my typical aches and pains as I’m due for my next spasticity treatment.

The funeral this morning was fun. In that we saw family we haven’t seen in a long time. It was nice to show up for them and get to know a little bit about a distant relative. My husband always talks about a chance encounter with them. Visiting with people and catching up means disclosing my recent surgery since I change positions a lot and hugs are different as I’m extremely sensitive to pressure. The look of worry and instant relief when I share it was a prophylactic measure is almost entertaining to watch.

We will be visiting my young woman leader tomorrow. A little taste of home when I’m in the middle of my insomnia cycle will be so nourishing.
