March is my month. I am a CP warrior. One of the reasons I was given the moniker Indomitable Bellatrix is because of my journey of personal independence.
Recently, I shared a post that said: “Not all disabled people are inherently inspirational.” And, I just rewatched this talk by Stella Young. And that’s my message this month.
I have cerebral palsy, AND I am just like every other middle-aged married woman on the planet. Not one thing about my daily life warrants your admiration or can be considered inspirational.
If you find me worthy of your admiration, I hope it is independent of my daily existence with cerebral palsy. There are parts of my life that are inspirational, but the simple fact that I live and thrive with cerebral palsy is not one of them.
