Budgeting

Growing up, the concept of a budget was nebulous. I knew that we had to earn money to afford life… but then for me not really.

My mother showed by example that you had to work to survive this world. But, I wasn’t encouraged to go out and get a career. I wasn’t encouraged to be truly independent.  I was because I was also taught to do everything I could on my own.

When I went to school, I had to figure out a budget. I had to learn how to live within our income. It was a wake-up call that we sometimes still need.

Congress just passed a budget that threatens the health and welfare of so many people I know and care for in my personal life as well as in my career in Healthcare. And will allow the government to deepen the debt AND not redistribute funds for those vulnerable communities that need it most.

Why in the ever-living heck are we supposed to support a national budget that makes the majority of our lives worse? I just don’t understand.
