I went to Finland on a foreign exchange summer program.
The summer between my junior and senior years of high school.
I left right after school ended for the year and boarded a plane with the other students in the program.
During the summer, I had 3 host families. I saw three major cities, and lapland. I learned to love a sauna and then swimming in the manu lakes. I ate reindeer, cloudberries, Karelian pasties, and the best blueberries I’ve ever had.
30 years later, I still remember phrases and even a few songs from my time there. I would love to go back.
