Adaptive Gear

My brand of cerebral palsy is strictly musculoskeletal so, my adaptive gear does not include a communicator… but since I was a kid I learned to express myself with written words and pictures long before I was comfortable using my spoken words.

My gear these days.

  • Ring splint on 2 fingers to avoid needing another surgery on my hand.
  • Nocturnal or inactive day hand brace to stabilize wrist and arm muscles during times of high spasticity.
  • AFO to help with drop foot and gait.
  • Grip assists for tasks where I need to concentrate on more than one thing at the same time. Or when 2 hands make the task easier.
