CP = being underestimated

When a person hears the word disabled or any other label, the things that they can assume about you are often far below what you are capable of.

When I was in grade school, it was assumed that I had lower intelligence and cognitive ability.

When I went to college, my first roommates assumed that I wouldn’t be able to care for myself.

Members of my community and even my own family assumed that I would never achieve rites of passage like driving, living on my own, having a family, etc.

I was underestimated by them, and hell, I unestimated myself. If I could do it again, I’d do everything earlier in my life. It was only after I stopped living in fear and believing my worth that I could live my best life.

To the world at large, do not assume that disabled means not capable.
