Spirituality vs Religion

Prior to the pandemic, I loved going to church and participating in activities and generally just  enjoying the public display of believing.

Lockdown and the subsequent freedom of practicing my beliefs in every day without the public displays changed my like and desire for the public displays of beliefs.

I found I prefer to keep what I believe and how I practice those beliefs close to my heart and to worship in a nonlinear way at home.

Today, I want to tell you what I believe. I believe in a loving God, and in His Son, Jesus Christ. I know that they love each of us for who we are, no matter what finite labels we or society place on us.

I believe that church brings you closer to that love and building that relationship with God. And, because of that, though I know there is a true church, I believe that any belief that brings you closer to God is a good thing.

Speaking of that true church, I recognize that the people who believe and worship as part of that church are very much human. They aren’t perfect. But, their imperfection does not distract from the truth from the church.
