5 unassailable truths that I know today
- Every human has a right to exist. No government agency or persons in leadership positions should have any say in how a person gets to show up in the world.
- Knowledge is key to change. Learn everything you can from every source available to you. Put that knowledge to good use to make your world better than you have it.
- Independence is a myth. Whether you acknowledge it or not, the truth is we all need each other. Every action that you take in the world directly or indirectly affects someone else.
- Divine intervention happens all the time. Sometimes, in ways that are decidedly not divine. I was assigned to give a sermon for Father’s Day one year. I had no idea what I was going to say because my own father was the best. I was watching Queer As Folk when Brian and Michael were talking about what they were willing to do for their kids… and I had an angle of what I was going to say for that sermon.
- There is no growth if you are complacent and comfortable. It is important and necessary to take that one step beyond the light and experience something new. That something new may change your life.
