For the sake of this post… I’m talking about my net income.
I have a simple approach to budgeting. I use the 80/20 approach.
80% of my income goes toward our everyday expenses.
10% of my income goes into our family savings account.
The final 10% is my ‘fun’ money. This part goes into my venmo account for me to use anyway I want. Usually, this is my lunch out fund, or I want to buy something just for me.
Since dividing my income this way, we have been able to put enough away to spend a week in Texas without needing credit. We have had funds available to help others in need. And, our bills get paid.
