There is a lot going on in the world right now. I could say a lot about all of it. I will at some point, but today… it’s wear red day.
I work in healthcare. My segment of healthcare is women’s health. I’m specifically involved in helping patients get diagnostic imaging for breast health. This includes cancer screening/detection and diagnosis, survellience, and monitoring of current and past cancer patients.
Wear red day is all about heart disease and heart health. The team in my building today wore red, and as I was assisting my patients all day, it was in the forefront of my mind that what I do is savings lives.
While mammograms and other breast imaging will not give a direct diagnosis of heart disease, the radiologists often notice changes in vasculature and muscle in the chest that aid in diagnosing cardiac or other concerns.
I wear red today to encourage you and myself to take care of our vessels. We only get one.
