This is the first time in a few years that we’ve had a pretty chill holiday. Last night, we put the final touches on our tree, watched a few holiday movies, spent time with our friends, and went to bed early. Our son came home from work to spend the day with us. We’ve had a Harry Potter marathon, made a brisket in the crockpot, mashed potatoes, green beans, and cherry pie for dessert. We exchanged a few gifts and are enjoying our time together. I have spent my day in my holiday pajamas. I can not begin to tell you how much this has healed my heart of christmases past.
“The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree: the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other.” — Burton Hills
The last week of the year has my heart full and hopeful. I am hopeful for my family, for my career, for my health and wellbeing, and for the opportunities that lie ahead.
I’m working the rest of the week, then come New Year’s Eve, we are going to have a staycation downtown and a lazy morning.
