So there was a disposition of the case for the kids today. The 12 yr. old is old enough to participate and wanted to listen. So, together we listened to the state of the case and everything that the judge had to say. The end result was a continuation of the case while parents continue case plan and the department continues to do due diligence for the best interest of the kids. Which means, I get to keep them a little longer.
My 12 yr. old took the news fairly well. Though, they are understandably is sad they are not going to go home tomorrow. After talking with the GAL, I think they understand better that the rules, guidelines, and things put forth by the department and court is for their best interest and protection.
I feel good about the judge’s decision. He is fair and things seemed to be understood by the parents. I also think that all parents are motivated to do what needs to be done. I just hope it doesn’t turn into a custody battle in the whole process.
In other parenting adventures… kids are certainly at home here because holy cow is the 7 year old attitude finally showing it’s true nature. They are trying hard… but they still laugh each and every day and he has an amazing imagination… building with his lego sets and other toys and things he finds.
