This marks the 2 week mark of being a family of 4. It feels like a lot longer. Tonight the 7 year old said that they’re happy here. It was a completely unprovoked and unprompted statement. Also, tonight the 12 year old was able to connect with friends from school. It was nice to see them smile and talk about like any other pre-teen.
Birth Mom called today to talk to me. It was a nice conversation. Birth Dads also touched base today and they were equally nice to connect with. I’m glad these kids have so many people in their corner. I’m also glad that I can be a resource for the parents when and if they want/need me to be. I’m equally glad that I can remove them from the drama that I sense in the background and let them be kids.
We rode our bikes today. It was so nice being on my bike and to feel confident in the saddle. I have cyclebar to thank for that… including getting out of the saddle to stretch a few times. Kickboxing has also helped with my stamina. Despite being benched for the last few weeks, I was not really winded or extremely tired on our rides today. I can’t wait to get back to it.
Speaking of kickboxing, I went into the studio to see one of my favorite coaches tonight. I almost got back on the mat tonight, but resisted. I’m not going to push myself but I am so aching to get back to my routines.
Tonight was also movie in the park and our family so enjoyed our time. The drive to the park is so much fun and the drive home is just so relaxing. Sadly though, it is one in the morning and I’m wide awake. Theoretically, I’ll be able to sleep in tomorrow morning.
