This is the 3rd Saturday that the kids have been with us. Today we decided that the boys and girls would split and do different things. We got up and ate breakfast. After that we went to get lunch then we split up. The boys went to do some errands while the girls did some other errands and fun things.
My 12 yr. old smiled and joked with me a lot. They also shared some big feelings in a safe way. We went to B&N first and we both managed to find a book that we wanted to read, Then, we bought some art supplies so that we can create some art together. We also got some nail polish, so we are going to do nails together tomorrow.
The boys did other things like build a computer and put together an a/c unit for our dining room/office. When I came home with the 12 year old the boys were bonding with one of our neighbors across the street.
We settled down a bit earlier tonight and they are currently listening to Justin read Harry Potter to them. My heart feels at peace with these kids in my home. I am grateful that we were able to say yes to this placement. Their big appointment is not until June 30th, so I will have at least another few weeks with them before anything happens. I’m thoroughly enjoying being a mom again.
