They slept through the night. Wish I could say that I did, but I think that was mostly because I was cold. Once I wrapped myself in a blanket cocoon, I fell right to sleep and slept later than I had in a long while.
This morning I started the day with reading and talking to Birth Mom. I have a good feeling and hope that my instincts are proven right. In the meantime, at least we can talk about what’s good for the kiddos while they are in my home and work as partners and not adversaries.
Birth Dad #1 is also reaching out, which is also a good thing. These kids are surrounded by people who care, and want what’s best… this so far a decidedly different reaction than I’ve seen with other placements in years past.
On day 2 we let the kids pick out clothes comfy for church. We also let them pick out sheets and towels to use. We ended the afternoon with movies and dinner, bath time and starting the Harry Potter series in the books.
Life as a parent is interesting and I’m finding I’m remembering more than I thought and we’re such a good team. I’m glad I’m not doing this solo as was the case before. I’m definitely going to use all of my resources and much more thoroughly. And, I have my perfect compliment… my partner, Justin to help make sure I get time away when I need it.
